Team Lead Recruitment
Team Leads help to plan the Capital Pride Festival.
As a member of the Festival Operations Team, Team Leads report to the Executive Director. A group of Festival Week Volunteers will be assigned to many of the teams and will be recruited during the summer.
Team Leads will volunteer approximately 10-20 hours a month, with additional hours in the immediate lead-up to and during the Festival. Organization wide team meetings take place monthly and include all team leaders. Team Leads must be available throughout Festival Weekend (Friday, August 23 – Sunday, August 25).
Opportunities:
The Accessibility Team acts as a point of contact for festival goers who have questions in the lead-up to the festival or require assistance accessing our events and programming. They Accessibility Team Leads will coordinate volunteers assigned to the team and support other teams and staff.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a point of contact for festival goers who have questions accessibility, both in advance of the festival and during events
- Supports initiatives to create a more accessible festival (i.e. parade accessible viewing area)
- Assist with recruitment of Festival Week volunteers and acts as a supervisor for volunteers assigned to the team.
- Works openly and collaboratively with all other members of the Capital Pride Team embracing the spirit and goals of the Capital Pride Festival.

The Fundraising Team will develop and oversee fundraising efforts during the Festival and specifically during Festival Weekend. During the Festival the Team Leads will have responsibility for managing a team of fundraising volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Develops fundraising plan for the Festival and oversees necessary preparatory work.
- Manages fundraising efforts during the Festival.
- Works with Volunteer Coordinator to develop fundraising volunteer plan.
- Assists with recruitment of Festival Week volunteers and acts as a supervisor for volunteers assigned to the team.
- Develops weekend action plan that covers set-up, operation and tear-down.
- Acts as main point of contact for Fundraising during Festival Weekend.
- Works openly and collaboratively with all other members of the Capital Pride Team embracing the spirit and goals of the Capital Pride Festival.

The Family Pride Team assists with the organization of the annual Family Pride Picnic and the new Family Pride area to be activated during Festival Weekend. The Family Pride Team will develop the programming and connect with potential partners in addition to working with festival staff to develop outreach initiatives. During the Festival, the Family Pride Team will support the set-up, operation and teardown of family pride activities.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a point of contact for Family Pride community partners.
- Works with Festival Staff to develop outreach and marketing strategies.
- Works with the Executive Director to develop programming and activities.
- Assist with recruitment of Festival Week volunteers and acts as a supervisor for volunteers assigned to the team.

The Media Relations Team assists with developing our media strategy, including identifying media opportunities, preparing press releases and liaising with media to pitch stories and manage interview requests., During Festival Weekend, they act as a primarily liaison for media.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a media relations strategy for the Capital Pride Festival.
- Acts as a point of contact for media in the lead-up to and during the festival.
- Draft media advisories and press releases to support the strategy.
- Pitch stories to media (including interview opportunities with spokespeople, artists, grand marshal etc.).
- Work with the social media and communications teams to create cohesive messaging.

The Parade Team will plan and execute the 2022 Pride Parade. The Parade includes over 150 marching contingents, vehicles and floats. The Team Leads will have responsibility for liaising with participating groups, responding to inquiries, planning the line-up and overseeing the set-up and staging, running and clean-up of the parade.

- Works with Registration Coordinator to oversee registration process.
- Liaises with Executive Director to develop the line-up for the Parade.

- Works with Volunteer Coordinator to develop fundraising volunteer plan.
- Assists with recruitment of Festival Week volunteers and acts as a supervisor for volunteers assigned to the team.

The Social Media Team supports our communications and marketing efforts. In particular, the social media team will work to promote events taking place during the festival and capture the many activities, artists and performers, partners and community groups taking part in the festival.
Responsibilities
- Work with Communications Coordinator to develop a social media strategy for the lead-up to and during the Festival
- Contribute to our social media content during the Festival (i.e. sharing photos and videos, facilitating live content etc.)
- Respond to inquiries received on social media from festival goers

Our Community Stage features local artists and performers, partnered programming and other activities. Located on Bank Street, the Community Stage operates during Festival Weekend from 12noon – 8pm. The Stage Manager will work with our production team to manage the line-up and support performers and artists.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to development of programming/line-up for the Community Stage
- Manage artists arriving and departing the Community Stage
- Manage overall schedule for Community Stage and work with Production Team to ensure successful event
- Communicate any issues (i.e. late arrivals, technical issues) to the Programming Coordinator

The Street Festival Team organizes and manages the annual Street Festival. The Street Fair includes community organizations, sponsor booths, food vendors and the Bank Street Stage. The Team Leads will have responsibility for liaising with vendors, responding to inquiries, planning the layout, overseeing the set-up and teardown of booths and managing the site.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a point of contact for vendors and community groups.
- Works with Registration Coordinator to oversee registration process.
- Liaises with Executive Director to develop the layout of the Street Fair.
- Develops weekend action plan that covers set-up, operation and tear-down.
- Acts as main point of contact for Street Fair during Festival Weekend.

The Volunteer Team organizes and manages the Festival’s volunteer programming including recruiting and training 400 festival weekend volunteers. Festival Weekend Volunteers assist in a variety areas of the festival including with the parade, street festival, and signature events. The Team Leads will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to development a recruitment strategy, host information and training sessions and development volunteer schedules. During the Festival the Volunteer Team Leads will manage the Volunteer Centre and assist in overseeing the volunteer program.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a point of contact for volunteers in the lead-up to and during the festival.
- Host training sessions and information events in July and August.
- Work with the Festival Director and other Team Leads to develop a volunteer plan that reflects needs across various parts of the Festival.
- Develops weekend action plan that covers organization, execution and tear-down.
- Acts as main point of contact for Volunteers during Festival Weekend.
- Assists with recruitment of Festival Week volunteers and acts as a supervisor for volunteers assigned to the team.

The Weekend Logistics Team supports the successful delivery of Festival Weekend and will work closely with a number of our other teams, to transport supplies, hang signage and set-up/tear-down basic equipment (i.e. tables, chairs, tents, barricades).
Responsibilities
- Manage set-up and tear-down of Festival Weekend signage and banners across the Festival Site
- Manage inventory of supplies for Festival Weekend
- Support Parade Teams, Street Festival Teams, Food and Beverage Teams and other teams throughout the weekend to deliver and move supplies, set-up and tear-down equipment (i.e. set-up tents for accessible viewing area of parade) and respond to ongoing inquiries.
- Assist with recruitment of Festival Week volunteers and acts as a supervisor for volunteers assigned to the team.
- Works openly and collaboratively with all other members of the Capital Pride Team embracing the spirit and goals of the Capital Pride Festival.
