WELCOME TO CAPITAL PRIDE.CA!
From August 15th to the 24th, Capital Pride will celebrate Ottawa’s 29th Pride Festival. On Sunday the 24th, the Parade will march again through the Village down Bank Street, following last year’s record breaking attendance. Other returning events include the Rainbow Party (back by popular demand), our bi-focused event ‘Bi’s and Beers’, the Human Rights Vigil, and the Picnic in the Park – another event that broke records last year. Etcetera, the youth arm of Capital Pride, will host its own week-long calendar of events for youth ages 13 to 18, including a Self-Care Craft Day and Etcetera’s signature event, a ‘Glow in the Dark Dance Circus’ themed Pride Prom.
New initiatives this year include the ‘Free to Learn’ GLBT Conference, an International Film Series, and an expansion of our International Marshal Program. We are also especially excited about this year’s launch event ‘Nature Nocturne; Pride’, an evening of glamour and discovery in partnership with the Canadian Museum of Nature.
We are looking forward to what we hope will be another record-breaking year for ourselves, but more importantly what we hope will be a ground-breaking year for the LGBTQ community around the world. We hope that you’ll join us in August to celebrate, and to stand in solidarity with those for whom Pride represents the best, tangible evidence there is that a better world is possible.
