Job Summary

The Financial Administrator is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including the recording of financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and producing financial reports. This is a part-time position.

Position Type: Contract from 1 July 2024 to 30 September 2024 (possibility of renewal). Remote work.

Hours of Work: 15-20 hours per week.

Rate of Pay $28.25 per hour.

Reports to: Executive Director & Treasurer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
  • Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
  • Bring the books to the trial balance stage.
  • Perform partial checks of the posting process.
  • Complete tax forms.
  • Enter data, maintain records, and create reports and financial statements.
  • Process accounts receivable/payable and handle payroll in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile and balance accounts.
  • Maintain historical records by filing documents.
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
  • Comply with federal, provincial, and local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Work with the Executive Director, Board Finance Committee, and the Board Treasurer as required.

Qualifications

  • Proven bookkeeping experience/training.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable principles.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (excel) and QuickBooks.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) will be a plus.
