2024 Community Project Fund

The Capital Pride 2024 Community Project Fund offers funding to groups to support an event or programming during the Capital Pride Festival, August 17-25. Events and programming must advance one (or more) of Capital Pride’s goals: to educate, to advocate, to celebrate, and to unite people. Successful applicants may receive up to $1,000.

The deadline for applications is June 24, 2024. Recipients should receive notification by July 5.

Eligibility criteria:

All applications must meet the eligibility criteria in order to receive support from the Community Project Fund. The criteria are as follows:

Applications must come from a non-profit organization or community group;
The group or organization must operate in the National Capital Region or in the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation or Pikwakanagan First Nation territories;
The organization’s central mission must be to serve the 2SLGBTQ+ community, or the group must focus on the 2SLGBTQ+ community or have a significant interest in supporting and advancing this community;
The event must take place during the 2024 festival, from August 17 to 25, 2024.

Please note that the fund is open to and encourages collaborative projects between different organizations or groups. However, one organization must be designated as responsible for applying on behalf of the partners.

Those organizing events or programming that serve marginalized or underrepresented communities within the 2SLGBTQ+ community will be given priority. This includes events and programming for trans and non-binary people, racialized people, Indigenous peoples, people living with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, migrant people, and people from other marginalized communities.

Terms and Conditions*

Successful applicants will be required to agree to the following terms and conditions. 1. Definitions “Recipient” means the applicant organization or individual that submitted the application, has agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions and has been awarded funding by Capital Pride 2. Acknowledgment of Funding The Recipient shall publicly acknowledge the support of Capital Pride in the lead-up to and during the event. 3. Purpose of Funding Funding shall only be used for the purposes of the program as described in the funding application. Major changes in the activities and timelines shall be made in writing to receive approval from Capital Pride. 4. Indemnity and Liability a)The Recipient shall indemnify and save harmless Capital Pride from any claims, demands, losses, costs, charges, actions and other proceedings, made or brought against, suffered by or imposed upon the City or its property in respect of any loss, damage or injury, including injury resulting in death, to any person or property directly or indirectly arising out of, resulting from or sustained by reason of negligence or otherwise of the Recipient, its employees, agents, volunteers, officers or directors. b) Capital Pride shall not be liable to the Recipient or any other party in relation to the Funding Contribution and/or the services provided by the Recipient pursuant to the terms of this agreement and the parties agree that the Recipient shall not be deemed an agent of Capital Pride for any purpose under this agreement. The Recipient shall be solely responsible for the payment of any individuals employed, engaged or retained by the Recipient for the purpose of assisting it in the fulfillment of its obligations under this agreement. 5. Insurance a) Capital Pride shall obtain and maintain during the term of the agreement comprehensive general liability insurance acceptable to the City, which shall be subject to limits of not less than two million dollars ($2,000,000) inclusive per occurrence for bodily injury, death and damage to property including loss of use thereof. b) The comprehensive general liability insurance policies shall be in the name of the Recipient and shall name Capital Pride, as an additional insured there under. c) The liability insurance policies shall contain an endorsement to provide all names of insured and additional insured parties with prior notice of cancellation or of a material change that would diminish coverage. 6. Reporting Requirements The Recipient shall submit a final report in the form required by Capital Pride two (2) months after the event or program.This report shall provide general details of the event, the number of attendees, the number of volunteers and the impact of the event.
