The Organization
Through the annual Capital Pride Festival, Capital Pride works hard to create an open and respectful space for the 2SLGBTQ+ community to advocate issues of concern.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create opportunities to celebrate, advocate, educate and connect people, respecting the full diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Our Story
After a change in leadership in January 2015, a new group of leaders from the rainbow community came together to ensure that celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Capital Pride festival took place with resounding success.
Initial work resulted in a strong partnership between Capital Pride and the Bank Street Business Improvement Area (BIA). This collaboration supports the organization’s governance role and festival operations acumen with solid financial oversight by an experienced partner, familiar working with the City of Ottawa, one of the Festival’s main partners.
The organization consists of the Board of Directors, which is responsible for the overall direction of the organization, and the Festival Operations Committee, which is responsible for the on-the-ground execution of the annual festival.
