What is WinterPride?

WinterPride is the first winter edition of Capital Pride’s longstanding summer festival. We’re excited to co-produce this event with Canadian Heritage as part of Winterlude.

When and where will the festivities be taking place?

The events take place from Wednesday, February 6 through Sunday, February 10. The outdoor festival will be on Sparks Street at Bank Street, while other Capital Pride Signature Events and community events will take place throughout the city. See the full listing here.

Will there be a parade? Can I sign up?

Staging a parade in the winter would be a little chilly for all involved, so we’re commemorating the 50th anniversary of partial decriminalization of homosexuality in Canada with a March on Sunday, February 10. Individuals and organizations are welcome to join the march, and no registration is required. See more details here.

Will there be a community fair or opportunity to set up a table?

The inaugural edition of WinterPride will not have a community fair, as it would be challenging to keep vendors and participants warm all day outside.

Will every event be outdoors?

The WinterStage on Sparks @ Bank will keep everyone moving — and warm — but many events, including the Speakers Series and the Capital Pride Awards Gala will be indoors.

How can I support WinterPride?

WinterPride is funded by the Government of Canada and Canadian Heritage. We’re excited to work again with our generous sponsors for the 2019 Summer Festival. If your organization would like to partner with Capital Pride, please email [email protected]
