Capital Pride Public Art Project description and theme
The Capital Pride Art Project is a public art competition held in our nation’s Capital. We are seeking artists to submit a proposal for an artwork that will be on view outside throughout the Capital Pride Festival, August 21-28, 2022. Proposals should incorporate the theme of this year’s Festival, “All Together Now” or reflect Capital Pride’s mission to create opportunities to celebrate, advocate, educate and connect people, respecting the full diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
The artworks proposed can be 2D or 3D installations, projected, or sound-based and will be installed throughout the city. Sites will be finalized with the selected artists based on the projects but we envision locations within local Business Improvement Areas (for example Bank Street, the Byward Market, Downtown Rideau, the Glebe, Wellington West and Sparks Street) and other locations such as Lansdowne Park. Capital Pride has engaged a team to work with the selected artists in bringing their creations to fruition.
The deadline to submit is Sunday, June 19, 2022, at midnight (EST). Proposals will be reviewed by a Committee and selected artists will be notified the week of Monday, June 20, 2022.
Proposals can be submitted in English or French.
