Frank Amini

Youth Liaison Representative (Ex-Officio)

Hello! My name is Frank and I use he/him pronouns. I joined the Capital Pride Youth Committee (“CPYC”) in March 2018 as I wanted to be more involved in the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

When I moved to Ottawa three years ago, I started volunteering with Capital Pride for their summer festival. It was finally my chance to be a part of the gender and sexually diverse community.

Having lived in 5 countries on 3 continents, Canada is the only place that has been accepting of 2SLBGTQ+ people and provide them with rights. I think my multicultural perspective is one asset I bring to this committee. I want to get more youth to attend pride events since it is a great way to find new friends and go to free and fun events throughout the year!

Currently, I am the minute taker for the CPYC and the Liaison representative to the Board of Directors as an ex-officio member. This is in addition to being a volunteer at every event I can fit into my schedule.

I was also a volunteer for WinterPride, a collaboration between Capital Pride and Canadian Heritage. I have attended the community reception in the last two years, and the last community consultations. I am excited to be a part of my third Capital Pride festival this summer.
